Journey Center Services
-
Journey Center’s 24-Hour Helpline: 216.391.4357 (HELP) can connect a person with all of our services through intakes and referrals.
-
Anyone. Our 24-Hour Helpline is available to anyone who is seeking support or assistance regarding domestic violence or child abuse. Someone experiencing abuse or friends/family/co-workers who are seeking support or information about how to help someone can contract our Helpline for information and support.
Our Helpline can offer support, resources or referrals, and crisis intervention. People can call or text our 24-Hour Helpline: 216.391.4357 (HELP) or live chat at our website: Journeyneo.org to talk with a trained advocate.
-
No, all of Journey Center’s services are free.
-
All Journey Center services are confidential. That means that Journey will not tell a victim’s case manager, lawyer, friend/family member, or other contact any information about the victim and their situation without permission and a consent of information from a victim.
The only time Journey Center staff would break the confidentiality of a client is if a situation falls under mandated reporting standards from the Ohio Revised Code. If Journey Center needs to break a client’s confidentiality we will take steps to ensure the victim is involved and aware as a way to center the safety of the individual and their family.
-
No. Our shelter is for anyone, regardless of gender, who is in need of immediate relief from violence and abuse. Any individual (or family) seeking safe, emergency shelter should call our 24-Hour Helpline to complete an intake.
-
Shelter stays vary from person to person and will depend on each person’s Journey. However, our shelter is designed for short-term, emergency assistance to help a victim (and their family) move onto the next phase of their lives safely. Our shelter is not intended for long-term or residential housing.
-
Intakes for Journey Center’s Trauma Therapy are done on our 24-Hour Helpline. Any individual who would like to receive services should call our Helpline to complete an intake.
-
No. Journey Center’s support groups are available for individuals who have experienced an abusive relationship, regardless of where they are on their Journey. Individuals who are in their relationships, those who are unsure what steps they would like to do, and those who are out of their relationships are welcome.
-
No. Journey’s Domestic Violence Education Classes are not therapy, nor are they a support group.
Our DV classes are designed to assist individuals who have been impacted by abuse through a 7-week educational setting. Each class is two hours and breaks down topics related to domestic violence; participants will be able to take what they learn in class with them to make informed decisions for themselves and their families.
-
No. While our Justice System Advocates work with the court systems we do not work for the courts and court involvement is not required. Journey Center understands that each person has their own Journey and often times that Journey does not include the legal system.
Journey Center advocates will work with an individual to identify their needs to achieve safety, autonomy, health, well-being, independence, and justice.
-
Journey Center has advocates that work with the criminal and civil courts throughout Cuyahoga County. Our advocates work within the court systems (not for the court) to improve the justice system and ensure that victims achieve safety, autonomy, health, well-being, independence, and justice.
However, our advocates are not attorneys and we cannot provide legal advice. Journey Center advocates can provide referrals for attorneys and legal services for victims.
As advocates we speak with each victim about their unique systems, explaining the court process and help victims explore and consider all their options with an emphasis on safety and self-determination.
-
Journey Center services are for victims. Most of our services serve victims, regardless of gender. If one of our programs is not currently offering services for male victims we will refer the victim to similar services to assist them.
