Becky's Story
The first few years of my marriage were happy ones. But my husband began to drink and had depression, and he seemed to turn into a different person. He would suddenly turn violent for no apparent reason. I lived in fear every day.
Without anywhere else to go, I entered Shelter as a last resort.
I felt so ashamed at first. But I slowly regained my confidence with the support of Journey Center’s Therapy and my Support Group. My Community Advocate has been so helpful in preparing me for finding a job and feeling safe regaining my independence.
